John Sage
Drawing board to the marketplace. A veteran of both Apple Computer and Microsoft Corporation, he led branding, positioning, and marketing for Microsoft’s flagship application, MS Office, and orchestrated the first major retail rollout of the product.
Leveraging assets and leading expansion. As an executive at Web pioneer Starwave, he directed all facets of corporate marketing, positioning, and business development with strategic partners including ESPN, ABC, the NBA, the NFL, and NASCAR.
Innovating new companies. He worked in private consulting at the CEO and Board level of Starbucks, building on that experience to launch Pura Vida Coffee, one of the country’s largest independent resellers of premium, organic, and Fair Trade specialty coffees.
John holds a BA with Honors in American Studies from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard. He is an Ashoka Fellow, an honor recognizing leading entrepreneurs using business to transform society. He is also a frequent speaker on competitive strategy and social enterprise.
